The length of tenure in our lab ranges from 2 years to 6 months. We are very lucky that we have low staff turnover.

What type of procedures are performed at your facility?

We perform approximately 90 procedures per week, ranging from simple diagnostic to more complex coronary, peripheral and structural repairs (i.e., patent foramen ovale [PFO] closure, atrial septal defect [ASD] repairs, etc.). Our annual volume of coronary diagnostic and interventional procedures is 4,395. Our annual peripheral procedure volume is 255.

We all have a peripheral lab that can be used for coronary diagnostic and interventional procedures. Our recovery area is a separate unit with 14 bays, of which five are used to admit outpatients.

We have 23 licensed staff:

15 RNs (1 is RN, RCIS)

one (CVT) RCIS.

We also have an inventory manager, one unit coordinator, 28 cardiologists and three vascular surgeons. We have staff dedicated to maintaining our documentation and database system, and an RN committed to education for the staff.

What type of procedures are performed at your facility?

We perform pacemaker and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) implants, diagnostic and therapeutic EP studies, diagnostic cardiac caths and interventions, heart biopsies, and peripheral diagnostic and interventional procedures, including carotid diagnostics and interventions. We have approximately 60 full-time employees (FTEs), composed of registered nurses (RNs), radiology technologists (RTs) and cardiovascular (CV) technologists. Most staff members have been with TIHH since it opened in 2003.

UHS Cath Labs perform about 15,686 procedures annually, approximately 300 procedures per week.
