Chapter News
If you are interested in starting a chapter in your area, please contact board member Lynne Jones, or membership director Nicole Shore for information on starting a chapter in your area (director@sicp.com).

The Oregon Chapter held its first meeting of 2006 on January 19th. Twenty-one participants represented three area facilities (McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center, Oregon Heart and Vascular Institute, and the Oregon Cardiology Diagnostic Center). Jed Reay of Oregon Cardiovascular Consultants, Inc., sponsored the evening™s education.

Wendell Witt, RN, of Oregon Heart and Vascular Institute, presented a lecture titled Patient Assessment, and Todd Chitwood, RCIS, of Oregon Cardiology Diagnostic Center presented 12-Lead EKG Identification of Acute MI. Attendees received 1 Category CEU credit for the evening. The chapter meeting also had much discussion about the membership drive, and everyone is excited to get our chapter website redesigned. The next meeting will be held March 16th at the Downtown Athletic and Conference Center, with registration and dinner beginning at 6:45 pm.

For more information on the Oregon Chapter, please visit our website at: www.oregonsicp.com or email tc@oregonsicp.com

Pro Tem President
SICP Indiana Chapter

The Emerald Coast SICP welcomes all members to our monthly meetings. Our last meeting was held February 23rd. Dr. Borsage spoke on Peripheral Atherectomy. An RCIS Review Course was also held by the SICP on March 4th and 5th. We look forward to seeing you in Pensacola, Florida.

Mark Koch, RCIS and Joe Iacono, RCIS staffed a booth at the Capital Cardiovascular Conference (C3) held at the Harrisburg Hilton on December 2nd and 3rd. The booth was to introduce the Keystone Chapter of SICP, a new chapter to represent the cardiovascular professionals in central and south central Pennsylvania. Although most of the attendees attending this conference on complex peripheral and coronary interventions were physicians, several other cardiovascular professions were represented.

The Keystone Chapter of SICP held their first lecture/dinner meeting on February 16, 2006 during National Cardiovascular Professionals Week. The dinner meeting kicked off the membership drive for SICP Keystone Chapter, which encompasses the South Central Pennsylvania area. Dr. Ron Waksman, noted interventional cardiologist and researcher from the Washington Heart Center, presented on bioabsorbable stents and gene therapy. The meeting was sponsored in part by Medtronic Vascular and Schering-Plough (Integrilin).

The Keystone Chapter is also looking at legislative changes in Pennsylvania. We want the RCIS to be recognized as the credential of choice in the cardiac cath lab. SICP continues to support this effort in every state and applauds the Keystone chapter™s efforts.

For any additional information, please call the chapter voice mail (717) 544-1030 or email KeystoneChapter@ comcast.net.

The Illinois chapter featured an IVUS Update, presented by Asim Nisar, MD, and sponsored by Volcano Corporation, on February 9, 2006. Dinner was sponsored by Guidant Corporation.
For more information on future meetings, call (847) 429-8730.

Our February 23, 2006 meeting marked the end of our first year as the Central Texas Chapter of SICP. For more information on the Central Texas Society of Cardiovascular Professionals, contact Christine Gillett, cgillett@ seton.org.
