I want to start studying for my registry. Can you suggest any resources I could use to study?
Sure. I went a couple of routes. First, I used Wes Todd™s review books. They were a great help and I would recommend them to anyone who is taking the registry seriously. There is a lot of great information and critical thinking questions in his review book. I can honestly say that if I didn't use his book, I would not have been as prepared as I was for the test. Second, get a group of people together and study in a group. I always find that if I have to teach someone something, I retain the information better than if I just give the answer to a multiple choice question. Teach your study partners as if they were learning for the first time. I also went to a great review course in Virginia put on by Sentara Norfolk General. They are not the only one out there, but since it's the only one I attended, it's the only one I can speak to. They were very thorough, and very good about answering questions clearly. A review course taught by staff from a top 25 heart hospital cannot be a bad way to go. You can also look at www.cci-online.org and they have, under applicants, the test matrix. This has what will be on the test by category. Use this as a reference when you are trying to decide what to study. The test is hard enough without having to guess what is on it. I would also use www.cathlab.com. Under education, they have a number of topics discussed by Charles D Lawrence, MPH, Ph. D.
