President`s Message

I hope this message finds you well-rested from the busy holiday season and ready for 2006. 2005 was a very productive year for the SICP, and our momentum will continue into the new year. You challenged the Society to provide more in the way of member benefits and I’m proud to say we met that challenge in 2005, growing the membership by leaps and bounds. SICP also provided several different conference options, including review courses and many CEU opportunities. In 2006, we are again up to the challenge and will continue to provide you with many opportunities. SICP’s accomplishments in 2005 were beneficial to members as well as to the Society. We began our review course program, allowing the SICP to provide courses tailored specifically for your facilities’ needs. We finished out the year having provided nine review courses and several CEU opportunities with a high rate of participation. The Society held review courses in New Hampshire, Virginia, Las Vegas, North Carolina, New Jersey and Texas. In 2006, our goal is to conduct twelve courses. We hope to meet and surpass that goal, and have three courses already in the works. If your institution or lab is in the process of becoming RCIS-credentialed and you need a review for the CCI Registry, keep the SICP in mind and contact us at our office headquarters, either by phone at (919) 861-4546 or via email at director@sicp.com. As the result of your requests, SICP stepped up its CEU opportunities by participating in several conferences, including Concepts in Contemporary Cardiology in Houston, South Padre Island II, the Gulf Coast Chapter annual bowling tournament and the review course in Las Vegas at ASOCC (the Cath Lab Digest Annual Symposium on Cardiovascular Care). SICP also had a presence at other meetings as an exhibitor in order to meet new members and address the questions of current members. We participated in New Cardiovascular Horizons in Miami and Dallas/HCA South Fork Ranch. The Society hopes to increase our exposure in 2006 and we are working on several opportunities for you to join us. Keep in the SICP loop as we make plans for Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Florida, and many more locations. 2005 also proved to be a banner year for SICP local chapters to explode. We grew from one chapter in 2004 to nine in 2005. We now have chapters in Florida, Texas (3), Oregon, Indiana, Illinois, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina, with several more in the works. If your lab wants to get involved on a local level, please contact SICP headquarters for more details. As the end of my term as SICP president winds down at the end of February, please offer a very warm welcome to our incoming President, Lynne Jones. I hope you get the chance to get to know her, as Lynne is an incredible person as well as a very good friend. I know you will embrace her as warmly as you have me. Lynne has been working so hard for you already that I can only imagine what she has in store for us during the next two years. Lynne has a fire in her that burns bright, and I am excited to be a part of the SICP as it continues on the fast track with Lynne and our new board of directors. I feel confident saying that the SICP will continue to work as hard as ever and I look forward to continuing my journey with the Society, supporting Lynne, the new board and of course, you!
