The superficial femoral artery (SFA) is unlike any other vessel in the body and presents unique challenges for endovascular intervention. Complete occlusions tend to predominate stenosis, and disease is often diffuse along the SFA. 
The CardioVascular lab at Phoenix Heart consists of a 4-bed pre and post procedure area, and a single interventional suite. We have 4 full-time staff members in the lab; two are registered nurses and two are registered radiologic technologists.
After we completed our first 75 PE cases, we reviewed our results, which were very good, with zero complications. We were able to significantly decrease thrombus load and decrease pulmonary artery pressures almost uniformly across the board.
