SICP President`s Message

Tracy Simpson, RCIS, FSICP, President, SICP
April 2005
Dear Members and Friends, As winter melts away and we launch into spring, I would again like to take a few moments to speak with you. The past year has been very busy for the Society of Invasive Cardiovascular Professionals (SICP) and we want to share all of our happenings with you. First and foremost, as many of you know, we have a strong connection with our sister society thousands of miles away in Thailand, the TCIS (Thai Cardiovascular Invasive Society). We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to all our fellow members and friends during the past few months since the tsunami. We would like to offer any help that we can to the TCIS as they continue to grow and rebuild. Please take a few minutes of thought today for all of those affected by this horrible disaster. The SICP is very proud to extend a Texas-sized welcome for our newly appointed President Elect, Lynne Jones. Lynne comes to us from Houston, Texas, where she was discovered several years ago as she and Scott Hardin successfully put into action the first SICP state chapter. We are looking forward to all that Lynne brings to the SICP an abundance of energy, knowledge and new ideas to lead the SICP into the next phase of our journey. So keep an eye out for Lynne over the next year. Look for her at upcoming conferences and do not hesitate to contact her for information about new chapter developments in your area. Having said that, the society would like to wish Andrea Davis all the best in her career as she moves forward with her position. Andrea was our original President Elect, but due to work constraints, was unable to remain on the executive board of directors. She has graciously accepted to remain on the board of directors to aid us in our many legislative efforts. We would like to say thank you to Andrea for the countless selfless hours she has given the SICP over the past ten years. We look forward to her continued support. As you continue to support the SICP, please take note of our monthly newsletter for upcoming conference information, CEU opportunities and SICP happenings. This newsletter is emailed to all members and can also be accessed through our website at www.sicp.com. This is a great way for you become familiar with all that is changing and going on in our field. Use it also as a way to get involved and decide where you fit into the SICP. We have many opportunities for committee chairs and committee members, so take a look, find where you fit in and join the society that works for the cardiovascular professional. We welcome you and hope to hear from you soon. I will be at the CCC (Concepts in Contemporary Cardiology) conference in Houston, Texas, this April as well as the ASOCC (Cath Lab Digest Annual Symposium on Cardiovascular Care) conference in Las Vegas this June, and I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of you to stop by the SICP booth and introduce yourself. It is always nice to meet the membership and new friends. I often speak with you on the phone and it is nice to put the face to the name. For those of you I do see more often at different conferences, I hope to see you also at the SICP booth. Well, it is time to run and let all of you get back to your busy schedules, but before I go, thanks so very much for your time and continued support for the SICP, as well as the cardiovascular professional that we as a whole represent. It is important to be part of a family and we welcome you into our SICP family. Tracy Simpson, RCIS, FSICP, President, SICP, Tracy@sicp.com or sicptracy@yahoo.com
